Colorado Tenants' Rights

2007-10-01

Executive Summary

Tenants in Colorado have it hard. Colorado offers few protections for those that rent. Generally, tenant rights are determined by state law in addition to local housing or health codes. Such codes may differ per city and some cities do not have local housing or health codes. Additionally, leases can contain different terms depending upon the individual lease. However, there are some general rules that apply for all Colorado tenants.

This pamphlet will provide you with some basic information regarding tenant rights and landlord rights.

To find more about the housing or health codes that apply in your city contact your local city and county government.
